Upcoming Social Events
  • Due to the Covid-19 situation affecting gatherings, there are no current plans for social events until further notice.
  • However, members should be receiving communications from the Committee describing the ways we'll be trying to keep in touch. If isolation is affecting you, if you need help or support, or if you just want to chat and swap stories with the rest of us, just let us know. We're all in this together!

Don't forget, when the current situation subsides, all APTG members are affiliate members of the Amersham Community Centre, which means you can take advantage of the Barn Hall Bar (and its great prices!) any time you like...well, within licensing hours obviously. You don't need to wait for us to organise a Bar Evening, just head along at your leisure.

Directors Wanted!

Although we are delighted to have found a director for our May 2020 production, this shouldn't disguise the fact that there is a shortage of new talent emerging to fill this role in future.

If you have ever harboured thoughts of giving directing a go, why not now? As above, we are running a Directors Workshop on Sunday 9th February, run by some of our most experienced directors, to help you discover what it takes to bring a play to the stage, and what help is available from your Committee.

The Committee is always there to help you, and can offer as much support as you need or want, including:
  • Finding a play
  • Preparing for auditions
  • Co-ordinating rehearsal schedules
  • Finding a backstage crew
  • General production support

As a director you'd have a dedicated Committee Liaison, there to help advise you every step of the way. Don't forget, we also have several experienced directors in our membership who would be delighted to offer their advice and support.

Go on, give it a go!

Recent Fun!
  • Curry Night - Thursday 13th February - Many members blew the cobwebs away over a curry at The Coriander in Amersham - thank you to Richard for organising.
  • Directors Workshop - Sunday 9th February 2020 - This event was postponed and will be rescheduled in the future.
  • Pub Night - Thursday 16th January 2020 - A great turn-out at The Swan in Old Amersham for an evening of drinks, chat and fun to see in the New Year!
  • Christmas Dinner - Friday 13th December 2019 - This year's Christmas dinner was held at Chartridge Lodge and many members and guests enjoyed a night of fun and games, not to mention food and a drink or two! It was a great event to round off another amazing year for Playgoers.
  • Quiz Night - Saturday 5th October 2019 - Our latest quiz night was a great success. Thanks to all who contributed to a wonderful evening, especially Janice and Ray our curators and hosts for the evening. Congratulations to those of our members on the winning team!
  • Treasure Trail - Sunday 15th September 2019 - Last year's winners, Ian and Rachael, organised our 2019 Treasure Trail in Chesham Bois, followed by a slap-up Sunday lunch at The Ivy House. In a competitive field with a great turnout, hot favourites "Ruff Justice" regained their crown with a stunning display of strategic teamwork. We look forward to Dennis and Pam taking on next year's Trail!

Our Chosen Charity for 2019 - Motor Neurone Disease Association
Each year APTG nominates a charity to support. For 2019 we are supporting the Motor Neurone Disease Association, and are making a donation to that effect. We will collect donations at each of our productions and events this year too.

Run, Robert, Run!

Our very own Robert May recently completed the London Marathon in a superb time of 3 hours 46 minutes. In doing so, Robert raised well over £2000 for Scope, a charity that aims to improve the quality of life for disabled people.

If anybody would like to contribute, donations are still possible by going to https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/robert-may9

Congratulations to Robert on a great performance for a very worthy cause!
